Cookie Information

A plain explanation of the cookies and similar technologies involved when you visit bernardmwambungu.com.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store, so that something can be remembered between page views — a preference, a session, or a record that you have visited before. Similar technologies, such as local storage, do much the same job.

What this site uses

This site sets no cookies of its own. There is no login, no shopping basket and no personalisation to remember, so nothing needs to be stored. No tracking cookies and no advertising cookies are set by this site.

Third parties that may set them

A few third parties are involved in delivering the site, and some of them may set cookies in specific situations:

  • Netlify — the hosting provider. It may use a strictly necessary cookie for security and load balancing.
  • YouTube — videos on this site are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, which avoids setting tracking cookies until you actually press play. Once you play a video, YouTube may set cookies under its own policy.
  • Google Fonts — fonts are requested from Google’s font service. This makes a network request but does not set advertising cookies.
  • Streaming and social platforms — if you follow a link to Spotify, UnitedMasters, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or LinkedIn, that platform’s own cookies apply once you arrive there.

Analytics and advertising

No analytics service and no advertising network is currently running on this site. If either is introduced later, this page will be updated to name it and describe what it stores before it goes live.

Controlling cookies

Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies in its settings, either for all sites or for one site at a time. Because this site does not depend on cookies, blocking them will not stop it working — though blocking them may affect embedded video playback.
